Training

A $25 training fee covers the cost of the comprehensive manual (no one is turned away for lack of funds).

Volunteers carry red clipboards, attend court proceedings, and record data on specially designed forms. After court, staff may contact judges, attorneys, advocates, or probation officers to follow-up on concerns raised by volunteers.

Court is held Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and available for a four-hour court shift each month.

To become a WATCH volunteer:

  • Complete and return the volunteer application form
  • Complete an interview
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Attend a six-hour WATCH training

Individuals who are currently facing charges of domestic violence, sexual assault, or child abuse are ineligible to volunteer.

There are limited opportunities to assist with data entry, administrative tasks, fundraising events, community education, and research.

Intern responsibilities center on court monitoring. Interns may also assist with research, volunteer coordination, data entry, administrative tasks, event planning, outreach, and community education. Applicants should have interest in: civil or criminal law, women’s rights, public policy, domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human rights, government, or public relations.

Court is held Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interns must be available for a minimum of 8 hours/week for the semester or term. Internships are unpaid.
